Special Needs For Adoption

This might actually be my favorite page on this website. These are the dogs who may need some extra care, extra love, and extra patience but they are the dogs who beat ALL the odds and are alive today. Whether they are older, are missing limbs, needs more care, or have emotional issues - these are the dogs that HSO is really all about. Any questions about these dogs can be directed to info@helpsaveone.org. Thanks!

Snowball - Puppy Mill Survivor

Picture
Snowball is a very gentle, although very traumatized puppy mill survivor. She is around 5 years old and reminds me alot of my puppy mill pug named Reba. Snowball does not like alot of commotion or noise and will never be a cuddly dog but she needs an owner who understands PM survivors and lets Snowball live life on HER terms.

Snowball would do best in an all female home with NO kids. She is not aggressive but needs a quiet environment. Perhaps a retiree or, again, someone who is knowledgeable on what a puppy mill survivor needs.

Snowball has lived in a wonderful home with her foster and has made leaps and bounds but she will never be what we would consider a "normal dog". She is much like an abused child who will always carry the emotional scars of what she has endured.

Please submit an application on Snowball if interested and we will have you meet with the foster mom and schedule a meeting with Snowball.

Please note, Snowball is now ready to be spayed and has just horrible teeth and needs a good dental. This cost will be $500. Can you help give this puppy mill survivor what she so desperately needs before adoption?

Duchess Melba of Chattanooga - Senior Female - Shih Tzu Mix

Picture
I love this little old girl and I love the rescue that saved just as much - CARE, Inc! They rescue countless sick and injured dogs from different shelters in TN. They take the ones everyone else gives up on or passes by. What they do is true rescue.

Here is what her rescuer/foster mom Brandy had to say about Melba:

Melba was turned in to the Chattanooga, TN Shelter, Mckamey Animal Center by a citizen claiming that she was a stray dog.  She was completely matted from nose to tail.  She was filthy and infested with fleas.  Melba's owner never came looking for her.  Because of her outrageous physical appearance, she was deemed unadoptable by the shelter and was scheduled to be euthanized immediately after her stray hold was up.  I rescued her.  It took six hours to remove the matts that were like concrete on her skin.  After a general examination, she was diagnosed with having mammary tumors, dead and rotted teeth, deaf and 75% vision loss.  Although Melba is quite a disaster right now, she has not let it take away her spunky spirit!  She loves to go for walks, play in the grass and fuss at the other fur kids when they give her trouble!  She's a very well rounded girl that gets along perfectly with kitties, doggies and children.  I am so happy to have saved this girl when everyone at that shelter said she was not worth saving.  We showed them!  Please, help this girl get the funds she needs so she can go to her vet and get all better.  Thank you so much for any and all donations.  No donation is too small.  Every dollar counts!

We have created a Chip In for Melba below that goes directly to the rescue who has Melba which is CARE, Inc (Cats Are Reason Enough). The estimated cost of getting Melba the medical she needs is $800 and Melba we assume would most likely be adopted to someone out of state so we would like to see her transport covered as well which usually runs about $100. Please, even if you can give $1 it really does help and adds up.

You are donating to CARE below and the Chip In is linked to their account.

Devon - Needs Heartworm Treatment

Picture
Devon is a total sweetheart. He has been in our rescue for a few months now, but we didn't have a picture of him. Now we have one, and here he is! He is gorgeous, and looks to be all yellow lab. He is great with kids, but does not do well with other dogs or cats.

UPDATE: Devon is HEARTWORM POSITIVE and needs a foster home to take him while he undergoes treatment. Can you help?

Devon is boarding with a vet and it is VERY expensive but we know he is very hard to place because of his animal aggression. Hoping for a miracle.....

His Chip In fund is below if anyone can help with the cost. We have many HW positive dogs in the rescue right now.

Lugar - Needs Heartworm Treatment

Picture
Luger was picked up as a stray. He was hanging out in a neighborhood, eating the dog food put out for other people’s dogs. He was a little timid at first, but walks well on a leash. He was a matted mess when he came in, but has been shaved down and although he looks a little lacking in some areas, we know he feels better. He is very sweet and never once showed any signs of aggression while doing this. He is a gorgeous chocolate and crème color and weighs around 50 lbs.

UPDATE: WE PULLED LUGER, AND HE NEEDS A FOSTER HOME WHILE HE IS UNDERGOING HEARTWORM TREATMENT, CAN YOU HELP?
