URGENT DOGS
All dogs listed on this page are either in danger of euthanasia or have health/placement issues and need extra help.
Also we have noticed emails circulating about our dogs with inaccurate information as to their location and status. All the dogs from the Gaston/Lincolnton pull are under Help Save One and safe.
We need foster homes and volunteer transporters (we do reimburse for gas) to help bring some of our dogs home. It would be especially nice if we can get some more North Carolina foster homes!
Mama & Puppies from Lincolnton, NC - URGENT - Another rescue was able to take these kids in! SAFE!!!
This mama and puppies is in Lincolnton shelter in North Carolina and we will be pulling her out on Friday. Lincolnton is very full right now so we implore any rescue that has room please consider pulling from there. The shelter manager is very rescue friendly and they run a clean shelter. It is unfortunately a gassing shelter so time is of the essence.
Please help us out with this mommy and puppies. We have alot going on right now and each litter always ends up costing at least $500-$700 once all is said and done. This is a litter of 7 so we are most likely looking at close to $1000 in vetting once all shots, dewormings, spay/neuters, etc...are done on puppies and mama.
Mama is small (around 30 pounds) and has a docked tail. Puppies are adorable and look like little rotties covered with snow! Well actually they appear to be Cattle Dog/Doxie/Shepherd mixes....OK your guess is as good as mine!
Mommy is also VERY sweet, gentle, and lets you handle her puppies. If you can help us financially with this lovely family please click the urgent dog fund below and specify "Lincolnton Mommy and Pups".

LITTER OF 13 (NOW A LITTER OF 4) - VERY URGENT!

DAY OF ARRIVAL
Update 3/5/10:
The litter of 13 is now a litter of 4. This past week has been heartbreaking. They received care almost daily from our vet who was surprised they kept going. Each one took a little piece of them with their foster. The focus is now on the remaining 4. Its sad when there is no happy ending.
Update 2/23/10:
These puppies have just arrived and they need ALOT of work. They are way underweight and need ALOT of TLC. Please help as they are going to need round the clock care. They appear to be closer to 5 weeks and are in good hands but were severely neglected.
UPDATE 2/20/10:
We were just asked to take in a litter of THIRTEEN puppies whose owner is taking them to a kill shelter in Georgia.
These puppies are only 6 weeks old and he separated them from mom. They are thin and pathetic. They need some serious groceries put on them and vetting.
I do not know what they are because they are so small but there are 13 total puppies so I can't imagine. Maybe Boxer/Shepherd mixes.
It costs about $225 for each puppy to be fully vetted, quarantined for 7 days correctly, altered, and transported.
Please help. We do not have the funds to do this and we do not want to see them go to a kill shelter. Listed are 4 of the puppies....we are told the other 9 look exactly the same. They can be turned over to us tomorrow if we can get some funding.

MY LETTER TO NORMAN'S FORMER OWNER

NORMAN AFTER
Update 2/26/10
Norman is having his x-rays done today and also is scheduled for a neuter and dental tomorrow. We will know more about his condition when the vet interprets the x-rays. It is thought to be nerve damage but not sure yet.
Someone has offered to build Norman a wheelchair at cost of materials which is so nice. We have had many well wishes and positive feedback on Norman and he feels your love.
UPDATE 2/23/10:
Above is what is what we call "The New Norman". Surrounded by his new toys and looking happier with each passing day. We will keep you updated on his medical and status. What a difference 4 days can make in a dogs life!In case you are wondering the shirt he is wearing says "I am kind of a big deal" .... we agree!
UPDATE 2/20/10
Dear Neglectful, Abusive, Terrible Pet Owner,
We have your pug now. He is safe.
I hope you read this and know that when you dumped him and let him wander the streets he suffered. You knew this precious pug had nerve damage and is incontinent. Did cleaning up after him just become too much. Did the five minutes it takes to clean up just become such a burden that you let this pug just wander the streets? When animal control finally picked him up did you know he sat in a cage for a few weeks while people tried to locate you? Ads were run in the paper and no one came looking for a purebred pug.
That's because you weren't looking for him. Anyway when animal control picked him up he was dirty, scared, and could barely walk.
On February 19th , 2010 your pug was supposed to be euthanized because no one claimed him and no rescue had room to fit in a dog with such medical issues. All the rescues are tapped out because of people like you.
To make a long story short we have him. As you know he can't use his back legs very well. He must of scooted around on his front legs when you left him on the streets. His back legs were covered in matted feces. He only has one eye. He has a big curly tail, a sweet face, a calm demeanor, and face full of adorable wrinkles. We are honored to have him.
Norman might be a mess right now but he has A LOT of spirit and wants to play and be like any other dog. With proper vet care he will attain a better quality of life than the one you sentenced him to.
If you couldn't afford the wheel chair or became tired of cleaning up after him you should of contacted a rescue and worked your hardest to find him an adequate place to go. Pugs don;t do very well trying to survive on the streets.
I hope someday someone that you love shows you the same loyalty you showed this dog.
PS...we think Norman was hit by a car while he was on the streets. He has an open wound on his stomach and an oozing wound on his back along with scrapes.
Norman is going to need to be updated on shots, neutered, seen by a specialist, have x rays done, and he will perhaps need surgery. He also needs a wheelchair. If you can help Norman please donate below. From experience, our estimate is conservative but we will update the tracker as needed. Please cross post widely. Norman did not deserve this.
TIME TO GET THESE GUYS HOMES!

Axle is a Little Special!
Update March 5, 2010:
As if this little guy has not been through enough he acquired an infection that took over his body and made things very difficult for him these past 2 weeks. The vet had to shave down his back and a photo is attached below. He is healing up now. Our Chip In ended so we started a new one which includes the $250 we still need to raise from the last one plus another $250 for the vetting he had to sustain due to infections.
Most of you have read the story about Salvation the husky, and her ten little puppies that were left outside in the cold. Of the four pups that made it, three pups are happy, healthy, fat little beans. The fourth puppy, however, seems to have some developmental problems due to his long exposure to the extreme cold when he was just days old. Axle is fat and healthy, at least physically. He is a little "special," his foster mom likes to say. He is slower than the other three puppies, often walks into things, walks in circles when he's alone (or thinks he's alone), and has a small twitch, among a list of other things. We need to take Axle into a special vet, a neurologist, to have his evaluated and see what special accomdations his new family will have to make to his condition. We've created a chip-in just for him. It is located below. Please help if you can, the sooner he gets in to see the neurologist, the better an idea we will have what his special little quirks really mean!

We Love Hearing "Buddy Sent Me" - This has become a mission to honor Buddy.
On December 30, 2009, between 2 & 2:30 a.m., a German Shepherd named Buddy was dragged to death at the Colorado National Monument. Steven Clay Romero, 37, of Grand Junction. was arrested for the death of this dog. He is charged with a felony count of intentional animal cruelty. Romero & his sister are alleged to have stolen the dog — Buddy, a German shepherd-blue heeler mix -from Joe and Sacha Leber in Delta. He allegedly took the dog to the Colorado National Monument early Wednesday, tied the dog to his truck and dragged the dog. Paw prints in the snow were found to show Buddy at first walking, then running, then dragging, for 3 miles.
