Possum Needs Your Help!
Some of you might remember Possum from earlier this year. He was pulled from a high kill shelter in his last hours, and had a small case of Demodex mang. He is 8 years old, and at the time, only had mange on his feet. No one wanted this senior dog due to his bare feet and old age, but HSO saw his inner beauty and stepped up for him. Once he was placed in a foster home, his demodex began to get worse. It flared up and spread to most of his body. Despite his condition, he was adopted by an amazing couple. They stuck by him despite his hardships, and his flare ups are now being treated. HSO is obviously paying the cost of his vetting, which to date is around $800. We are trying to recoup the costs of this unexpected expense. If you can donate even a dollar to help Possum, please do so through the Urgent Dog Fund. I am going to post a few pictures showing his condition, so all can see just how bad the poor baby looked. HSO takes in dogs like Possum often, when no one else will step up for them. This is a good example of why we have to charge an adoption fee... Possum has cost us upwards of $1400 between his pull fees, vet work, several transports, and new vet work. Any help we can get would be great. Thanks everyone!
#604 - Male - Chihuahua - URGENT - In a gassing shelter - Needs OUT!
Awwww, we got to get this one OUT. We have taken maybe 6 Chi's from Gaston County and they were so scared but all beautiful, adoptable, and just needed some work. This little guy is scared! Look at him, he can't survive in that shelter and he only has until tomorrow and then he is gassed.
He'll need to go into a foster home first so he is not up for adoption at this time. If someone can foster him who has breed knowledge that would be great. Also we need a sponsor for his vetting and transport. There is now a low cost spay/neuter clinic right in the vicinity and it costs just $60 to neuter. The transport will be around $75 and the shots another $30 maybe. We do not need much for this little one. Can you help?

Peanut - Young Male - Chi/Pug - URGENT! PTS DATE 7/2 - Gassing Shelter
This is not a good photo of Peanut. He looks like he is ALL pug except for his snout being a little longer and no googly eyes. His has the body, tail, and ears of a pug so I guess he is what is considered a Chug?
He is just adorable and needs to be out of the shelter (Gaston County, NC) TODAY! He is set to be put down by gassing.
His adoption fee would be $350 and that would include his neuter, shots, and transport! If you like to sponsor him please click on the urgent dog fund above. For adopting please click on the Adopt~Sponsor~Foster link on our website menu.

Litter of Yellow Labs - URGENT - Gassing Shelter - Need OUT
Can you believe this? I just talked to a high school friend of mine who was on a waiting list for 3 months for a dog just like this. These dogs sit dying in shelters and I think 90% of the USA does not know they exist and what goes on. These puppies are also listed as UNADOPTABLE by the shelter most likely because they are shy. This means they do not get a chance to even go to the adoption floor. Its either a rescue takes them or they get gassed. There are actually FIVE of them but I just posted the 3 pictures. All look exactly the same.
I don't even know what to say about this other than I know there are people and rescues out there who would want these babies. We would love to take them in if we can get the funding for their vetting and transport. You can help by clicking the urgent dog fund above. We also would love to see another rescue take them if they can do it as well. Whatever gets them saved. They are at Gaston County shelter in North Carolina.
Please help!
